Cleaning up the boat

Did I need a project? There was a couple of years of leaves and dirt built up around the fuel tank, so I decided to pull the tank out and clean it up. I also was very curious to see how everything is put together near the transom, so this was another reason to do this. Finally, the straps that hold the fuel tank down were pulled loose, so they need to be replaced. That bucket is full of the crud that I scooped out.

After cleanup. I'm going to use Meguiars to scrub and wax the area under the fuel tank, so that the crud that washes into this area will hopefully keep moving around the tank to the big hole that drops into the bilge, and out the dran plug.

Our Arima SeaChaser 17

I'm going to try this as a way to share some photos. I'll start with a couple of photos of the new fishing boat. I did a lot of research, and wanted a very versatile boat that was smallish and easy to handle, was immune to salt water and abuse, was easy to maintain, and was both seaworthy and suitable for a river or lake. I did a lot of research and found out about Arima boats. They met my criteria, and are very popular with Pacific NW fishermen. I found one in Seattle for a fair price, and my good friend John E and Ryan and I traveled north early last Saturday morning to check it out.

After I bought it we took it out in the Puget Sound for a spin. There was a pretty good wind at first, and a healthy chop. After a bit of cruising it settled down and was downright sunny and warm (warm for April anyway). Can't wait to go fishing!
